Please see below some of the key members of our team.

William Forsyth LL.B, Chartered FCSI
Investment Manager & Branch Principal

As a law graduate, William immediately gravitated towards the financial sector, amassing his stockbroking and investment qualifications along the way. His sense of financial rigour and balanced approach to risk versus return, combined with his natural entrepreneurial spirit, mean that he is equally at home in an institutional and private client environment.

After serving his time with companies such as Scottish Amicable and Scottish Life, William took the plunge to set up and run his own fund management company until it was snapped up by a public company. William then moved to private client investment management as a director of a stockbroking firm, later acquired by Rathbones – where he continued over the next 11 years as an Investment Director.

William has enjoyed a long and successful career in investment management, and understands first-hand just how emotionally attached individuals are to their hard-earned capital. For that reason, he set up Charlotte Square as an investment boutique where clients could receive a truly personal service coupled with consistent performance to reassure them that their assets were in safe hands.

Joe Capaldi CFA
Investment Manager

Joe joined Charlotte Square in 2014. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde with First Class Honours in Management and Business Enterprise, and spent the following years working within asset management and financial firms in both London and Dubai before returning home to Edinburgh.

Joe is a CFA Charterholder and a true investment professional to the core. In addition to his broad-based experience in both direct stock picking, as well as fixed income and collective investments across multiple asset classes, Joe is an avid follower of financial markets and business trends outside of working hours. Keeping tabs on the industry in this way allows Joe to play an important integral part in the overall generation of investment ideas at Charlotte Square.

Within the investment management team Joe is a very effective lead manager of our AIM IHT service.

Andrew Spence, MCSI
Investment Manager

Andrew is a member of the investment committee at Charlotte Square, with specific expertise in the areas of asset allocation, investment risk and fund research. He also runs the All Weather investment strategy. Prior to joining Charlotte Square, Andrew was a senior member of the investment team at Optimus Capital in London, where the model investment strategies measured top quartile performance during his tenure (2012-2018). Andrew was formerly Head of Alternative Investments and a member of the Investment Committee at Williams De Broe, in London. He graduated from Newcastle University in 2006 with a first-class honours degree in Marine Engineering and the RW Mann Trust award for best British BEng student.

Linda N Forsyth LL.B, MBA
Business Support Manager, Compliance & Legal

A law graduate from Edinburgh University, Linda worked as a qualified Solicitor and Notary Public for many years at senior level in the legal profession, including running her own law practice from 43 Charlotte Square. The majority of her experience was built up advising private clients in a number of aspects including corporate, litigation, executry and property law.

Linda has not moved very far geographically! Aside from 3 years spent in Glasgow when she  moved into the corporate sector as MD of a software company, she is now back in familiar territory at No 43. Her focus at Charlotte Square is again on private client service. She has acquired a sound working knowledge of the compliance aspects of the investment industry and provides legal, financial, operational and governance oversight at Charlotte Square, which she joined in 2009. She also fulfils the Company Secretarial function for a private management company of which she is also a Director.

Kerryann Lennon
Operations Supervisor

Since joining Charlotte Square in 2006, Kerryann has built up a detailed knowledge of the workings of the business and its clients, with whom she interacts on a daily basis. She has been instrumental in helping to establish the processes and procedures which underpin much of the work which goes on in the background. Clients may not be able to see all of this activity, but Kerryann and her team take great pride in the level of client service it provides.

Kerryann is often the initial point of contact for enquires from clients and their professional advisers, and she handles a wide range of requests. Her interaction with her operational counterparts at Raymond James ensure that quality controls are maintained. In her personal time, she is an enthusiastic Celtic supporter!

Liam Goodbrand BSc (Hons)
Investment Manager Trainee

Liam is part of the Investment Committee at Charlotte Square, contributing to the formulation and implementation of the firm’s investment strategy. He is increasingly active in the management of client portfolios, portfolio performance, research analysis and benchmark reporting. Prior to joining Charlotte Square, Liam worked at Tcam Asset Management as an Investment Assistant, where he worked with the Investment Managers in the management of over £400m in client portfolios & over £100m in OEICs. Liam graduated from Heriot Watt University, with an Honours degree in Actuarial Science. He has recently passed CFA Level I and is a holder of the Investment Management Certificate from the CFA Society, and the Investment Advice Diploma from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

A keen musician (and former Musician of the Year), he has left behind his black belt in karate to take part in competitive rugby, occasional football matches, and is to be found most weekends on the golf course either practising of taking part in competitions. A keep fit enthusiast, he trains several times a week and has been known to take part in Tough Mudder and Rough Runner exercises, which all leads us to think he must be the fittest person at Charlotte Square!
